Client Email Draft
An editable email summarising the calculation, with a plain-English explanation of why the amount owing or refund differs from what was withheld during the year — copy it into your mail app, or open it there directly.
Add the client's email address yourself — we don't store one. “Open in email client” uses your computer's default mail app and may trim very long drafts; copy/paste is more reliable for a long one.

How this is calculated
Retirement deduction. Contributions are deductible up to 27.5% of gross income, capped at R430,000 a year. Amounts above the cap carry forward to future years.

Additional medical expenses credit (AMTC). For taxpayers 65+, or with a qualifying disability: 33.3% of (medical aid contributions over 3× the annual MSFTC, plus other qualifying expenses). Under 65 without a disability: 25% of that same total, less 7.5% of taxable income.

Rate applied
How this is calculated
Standard rate. Companies pay a flat 27% on taxable income for years of assessment ending in the 2026/2027 tax year.
Small Business Corporation (SBC). A qualifying SBC is taxed on a graduated scale: 0% up to R99,000, 7% up to R365,000, 21% up to R550,000 plus R18,620, and 27% above that plus R57,470. Qualifying broadly requires all shareholders to be natural persons with no other company interests, gross income under R20 million, and investment/personal-service income under 20% of total receipts — confirm eligibility before relying on this.
Not included. Dividends tax (20% withheld when after-tax profit is distributed to shareholders), capital gains, provisional tax payment dates, and any deferred tax adjustments.

Assessment
Where trust income goes
Calculation checklist
Rate applied
How this is calculated
Conduit principle. This estimates tax on income retained in the trust. Income vested in (distributed to) beneficiaries during the year is taxed in their hands, at their own rates, not at the trust's flat rate.
Special trusts. A trust set up solely for a beneficiary with a disability, or for minor beneficiaries of a deceased estate, is instead taxed on the same sliding scale as an individual — use the Individual Tax tab for that calculation.
Not included. Capital gains (trusts include 80% of gains in taxable income, versus 40% for individuals), donations tax, and distributions to non-resident beneficiaries.
